Two KBS project teams were honored for high standards in quality and safety during the third quarter of 2017.
The quality award was given to the Rocketts Landing Apartments team consisting of Liz Blanks, project assistant; Chris Bryant, project manager; Mike Itzkowitz, project engineer; Max Minter, assistant superintendent; and Scott Stallard, superintendent. The team is working on the 189,538-square-foot apartment complex including 156 units, retail space and a parking deck within the Rocketts Landing development.
“The Rocketts Landing team has done an excellent job of pre-planning, setting the expectations with subcontractors early and continual monitoring quality through daily inspections,” said Matt Kamstra, corporate quality director. “The project team’s efforts have translated into good quality in the field and has set the stage for work performed by each additional trade that arrives on site.”
The Lidl West Broad team took honors with the safety award. The team is made up of Megan Garland, project assistant; Jacob Dalton, project engineer; Mark Loving, project manager and Ed Rogerville, superintendent. The team is working on the 36,000-square-foot new construction of a Lidl grocery store on West Broad Street in Henrico County. Lidl, with 10,000 stores in 27 countries, is opening its first U.S. stores this year. The German company is planning to open 100 stores across the East Coast with about 4,000 employees by the end of 2018.
“Not only did the team deserve the award though the eyes of the KBS Safety Department, but they also proved their worth during the weekly safety inspections conducted by Lidl’s third-party safety consultant. Numerous weekly inspections were conducted by KBS and by the third-party safety consultant that resulted in zero violations” said Mark Lambert, corporate safety director.
