KBS is honored to receive the 2019 General Contractor of the Year Award by J&G Workforce Development for demonstrating an unwavering commitment to MBE’s and Section 3 hiring on the Church Hill North project.
“As you may know, many other businesses and individuals were also nominated, and, because of the high caliber of the nominated individuals and companies, the selection committee deliberated long hours and gave careful consideration to all nominees. KBS Inc. stood out as a leader who exemplify excellent standards,” said Grace Washington of J&G Workforce Development.
Similar to other Section 3 projects that KBS has performed, on Church Hill North KBS has worked closely with subcontractors and the project’s Section 3 coordinator to ensure the successful hiring of qualifying residents. “We put in the effort to ensure that the right potential employees are paired with the right subcontractors”, said KBS Project Manager Will Paulette. “We want the Section 3 residents to be put in a position where they can excel and potentially have employment that lasts beyond just one project.”
Church Hill North is a multi-phase public-private partnership project involves the demolition of the former Armstrong High School and sitework on the 22-acre site along North 31st Street and the 30-acre Creighton Court revitalization.
