CarMax Headquarters and Parking Deck

The five-story office building includes 243,000 square feet of office space, plus an additional 19,000-square-foot fitness facility nestled in the suburban 3,500-acre West Creek Business Park in Goochland County. KBS met all construction requirements to achieve a LEED Silver Rating.

Existing trees stand within ten feet of the office building’s footprint and reach higher than the five-story building. A pedestrian connector joins the design / build 1000-car parking deck with the office building. The full-service cafeteria included a 2,300-square-foot kitchen and 3,200-square-foot servery.

The main building is constructed of glass curtainwalls, exposed structural steel and zinc cladding. Energy efficient features include gearless traction elevators, built-in sunshades and light shelves within the curtainwall and sensors which monitor the amount of natural light entering the building and supplement with artificial light accordingly.

The project was awarded “Best of 2005, Office Category” by Mid-Atlantic Construction magazine.
