KBS is proud to celebrate Women in Construction (WIC) Week on March 3-9, 2024 along with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). Throughout the week, KBS will be highlighting the women who play an important role in the success of our firm.
The mission statement of the NAWIC is: “… committed to championing women to impact the direction of the construction industry. NAWIC provides education, community and advocacy for women.”
Take a look at what some of the ladies of KBS had to say about working in the construction industry!
“I love the diversity of working with many different people and personalities in construction.” – Christine, Safety Inspector
“Every project has many components and pulling it all together provides a sense of accomplishment.” – Alisha, Project Engineer
“I enjoy jobsite visits; it’s amazing to see the transformation of the projects due to the hard work and dedication of co-workers and our subcontractors.” – Shannon, Project Assistant
“I like working in construction because it’s interesting to see all the parts that go into completing the final product that started from just a design on paper.” – Megan, Project Assistant
“I love going to the jobsites and seeing the progress made over time. It’s incredible to see the transformation into the final product.” – Rachael, Marketing Coordinator
“I enjoy seeing our projects go up whether it’s in person or, being in accounts payable, by the subcontractor’s monthly billings.” – Diane, Accounts Payable
With over one million women employed in the construction industry, this only makes up for 11% of the industry workforce.
The focus of WIC Week is to highlight women as a visible component of the construction industry. It is also a time for local chapters to give back to their communities. WIC Week provides an occasion for NAWIC’s thousands of members across the country to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry.
